2026 Mid-Atlantic Clinical Research Symposium

RAP-EMCC hosted its fourth annual Mid-Atlantic Clinical Research Symposium on September 19, 2026. This event was co-sponsored by both the Departments of Emergency Medicine from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and The George Washington University School of Medicine in an effort to help undergraduate and medical students present their clinical research. Dr. Quincy Tran

RAP-EMCC Director
Professor of Emergency Medicine and Program In Trauma of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Academic interest in improving the care for critically ill patients who are in the Emergency Departments.

Dr. Ali Pourmand

Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C.
Research focus on the current understanding of evidence-based medicine and clinical medicine through multidisciplinary collaboration across the School of Medicine and across the GWU campus.

Dr. Jennifer Walker

Critical Care and Emergency Medicine physician in the Baylor Scott and White Health System in Texas
Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at The Burnett School of Medicine at Texas Christian University

Dr. Trager Hintze

Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine
Board-certified critical care pharmacist.
Current scholarship centers on medical education practices and pharmacology for critically ill patients.

Dr. Jessica Downing

Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine and the Program in Trauma and Critical Care at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
Works clinically in the Critical Care Resuscitation Unit at the University of Maryland Medical Center and in the intensive care unit at the University of Maryland’s Capital Region Medical Center, an academically affiliated community hospital.
Dr. Downing has interests in critical care systems organization and care delivery, hemodynamic monitoring, and resuscitation.

Dr. Rahul Kashyap

Medical Director of Research at WellSpan Health with additional focus on Oncology, Heart and Vascular, Critical Care and Precision Medicine.
Associate Professor of Medicine and Faculty at Drexel University College of Medicine, Research Scientist (suppl.), Mayo Clinic, Rochester.
Special interest in clinical research methodology, systematic review, meta-analysis, AI in medicine and social media research.
