Research Projects Overview

RAP-EMCC Prospective Research Studies
Our program currently has three active prospective studies for which our members work together to gather pertinent information from patients admitted to our medical facility. Click on each study to receive more in-depth information on its protocol and outcome goals!
  1. The Critical Care Resuscitation Survey Study assesses patients’ satisfaction with their care in the CCRU in hopes of bettering their experience.
  2. Patient Centered Sedation Outcomes in Mechanically Ventilated Multi-Trauma and Neuro-Trauma Patients Prospective Study assesses trauma patient comfort and experiences while intubated under mechanical ventilation.
  3. Patient Centered Sedation Outcomes in Mechanically Ventilated Non-Trauma Patients Prospective Study Mechanical Ventilation Comfort Study in Non-Trauma Patientsassesses non-trauma patient comfort and experience while intubated under mechanical ventilation.

RAP-EMCC Retrospective Research Studies
In addition to the actively-engaging prospective studies, our team also works on several retrospective studies and meta-analyses, gathering information from electronic medical records and other sources to further investigate additional research questions of interest. Our members are trained in data collection and coding, statistical analysis, scientific writing, manuscript creation and review, and other important skills needed to complete these projects. We work directly with Dr. Tran and often in coordination with other medical professionals to gain useful clinical insight for making our studies patient-centered and productive. With the hard work and dedication of our students, Dr. Tran, and collaborators, our group has successfully published many works in medical journals and presented findings at conferences including the Society of Critical Care Medicine's Congress over the years.
